What’s a shipping surcharge and does it affect me?

It’s common for shipping carriers to temporarily increase their service prices to better manage the peak season workload. This price increase is called a shipping surcharge

As all major shipping carriers have increased delivery prices this year, we’ve added a temporary surcharge to our shipping fees.

The Peak Surcharge is effective across our busiest time of year as we scale-up our network at additional cost.

The Peak Surcharge is applied on the product price after any discounts or commissions or other surcharges, and before VAT.

The Peak Surcharge will be effective 18 November 2024 until 10 January 2025 (inclusive).

The products covered by the Peak Surcharge are set at the following rates per item:

ChargeProducts
£0.05Royal Mail 24® and Royal Mail 48® Large Letters; Royal Mail Tracked 24® and Royal Mail Tracked 48® Letterboxable
£0.10Royal Mail 24® and Royal Mail 48® Parcels; Royal Mail Tracked 24® and Royal Mail Tracked 48® Parcels; Royal Mail Tracked Returns®; Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed® by 9am, 1pm and Next Day; Special Delivery Guaranteed Returns

£0.10International Tracked Parcels; International Tracked & Signed Parcels; International Signed Parcels; International Untracked Parcels

The surcharge will be added per order, so if your order includes multiple products from categories with different surcharge rates, we’ll apply a single surcharge.

The surcharge will be included in the total shipping cost at checkout. The VAT/tax rate will be added as a separate charge and calculated from the sum of the product price, shipping cost with the surcharge, and any additional services.

What can I do?

You may wish to review your shipping prices and consider manually adjusting them to cover the surcharge fee
